RAISINS
Pitto (Pty) Ltd was established in 2006 and has since been a respected supplier of high quality table grapes. Our founder, Tokka van den Hever has been farming fresh table grapes since 1997 and had a vision of introducing the table grape grower exporter concept into the raisin industry. In 2020 Pitto (Pty) Ltd started exporting their own Thompson, Flame and Crimson raisins to various international markets and made it another success story.
Our raisins are 100% naturally sundried grapes produced in the Orange and Olifants river regions of South Africa, which are in the Northern and Western Cape respectively. The dry, sunny climate, along with the ample supply of water from the rivers, makes ideal growing conditions to produce the highest quality raisins.
Raisins are packed full of nutrients, such as fibre, iron, calcium and antioxidants. Because most of the water is extracted from dried fruits their nutrients are concentrated. Raisins are also incredibly versatile. Eat them on their own as a healthy snack, or use them in cereals, salads, stews, baking, pasta and many other delicious recipes. They also provide a cost-effective way of eating healthily due to their long shelf-life.
South Africa is listed as the 5th largest producer and exporter of raisins worldwide. The industry has grown strongly over the recent past, and this growth trajectory is expected to continue over the short-to-medium term.
